I was wondering why is everyone saying that Alpine head unit quality went down since 2004? There is a particular 2004 Head Unit that I was thinking about buying if I am able to find it Model CDA-9833.I know that this unit has a 1 bit DAc. However when I listened to it last year at a car audio store it sounded awesome. Based solely on SQ and not all the bells and whistles how would this unit compare to the newer 2006 Alpine with 24 bit DACs like the DVA-9861 and the new seperate processors PXA-H701?

companies r focused bells and whistles too much! the bones are getting brittle they need some oscal. ha ha .I feel the same about the rest of the companies like pioneer. sony and jensen are look starting to look good to me.I think just build a head unit for my car use a mp3 player 100 giga hd and a dsp for my caprice.
