Car CD players/radio working abroad...

I want to buy a CD player for my girlfriend who at the minute is living in Germany.
I'm just wondering if the radio stations will work ok with it?
Perhaps a bit of a stupid question, but hey...I know nothing about electronics.
She has an old Renault Twingo by the way, if that info is needed. or will most radios work with most cars?
