I'm replacing my front speakers for a big upgrade and I'm torn between the Focal 165VR and the Boston Pro 60's.  I have a pair of Boston components up front now and I love they way they sound.  I've never listened to a Focal before so any advice is greatly appreciated.

They will be powered by 90w each from an Alpine F-550.   With the Focal's at 94.5db that should be more than enough.  My goal is for clarity and accurate sound quality.

Thanks in advance.

I had bostons as well, and I love em!  i listened to Focal's components, and it depends which ones you get, and how their set up in the ride! im facing the same problems, but with different brands...Im torn between Dynaudio and Morel...So lemme know what you end up doing!  Peace...

The Morel's got excellent reviews in an older issue of Car Audio Mag.    Nearly got perfect 10's,  but they are very pricey.

I have a set of Boston RC 620's from my last truck with some Boston NX 67's for rear fill.  When I sold it to buy the new on I was able to take everything out and put all the stock stuff back in.   Having had Bostons I know how great they sound, very rich and accurate.  I'll have the midbass in the doors and the tweeters in the sail panels angled towards the driver and passenger.

My gut it telling to go with what I know but part of me wants to try something new.  There is a Sound Advice close by and they have Focals, but its so hard to get a good listen when they have them in those rooms with 50 speakers on the walls.   I'll run down there this weekend and check them out.

Thanks

I would recommend the Focals over the Boston's.  I have had everything from Diamond, Morels, Dynaudio's and MB Quarts in my car--and the Focals are the best sounding by far!  The Bostons are really good components, but go with the focals.  I would stick with the polyglass and above however, as the access don't seem to keep up with the higher models of Focal imho.
