I know little/none about car audio.  I know I like quality sound.  I have an 03 Lexus RX300 that I would like to put speakers in.  I like balanced sound and am not going to be trying to "thump" at every light in town.  I want high quality speakers with good clarity and balance for a wide variety of music.  What speaker companies have a reputation for quality without spending more than a couple hundred per pair?  Any speakers that are considered a great value?  Looking or a starting point here so feel free to offer anything that seems helpful.
Thanks all...

I'd suggest looking through our past reviews and test reports. Last year, we loved the Phoenix Gold RSD 65cs, which are in your price range and a great value for the money.

Try going to a store and listening to their offerings. You may find other speakers in your price range that appeal to your sensibilities.

Thanks.  Time is at a premium for me and so I have limited opportunity to go to the many stores.  I am hoping to narrow my running around with tips from everyone here and researching the other reviews.  I will check out those Phoenix Gold.  Thanks for the help and any other suggestions would be welcome.
