its always a good idea to upgrade things as you begin to ask more from the factory stuff,
i have a 9850 b/tooth unit..
2x  jl audio 300/4 amps wired to 2 sets of focal splits at 150rms to each x over, 1 set is kps165, the other is k2p. both 6 inch versions.
2x w3 v3 subs by jl audio, and a 1000/1 mono block amp.
sealed boxes, custom install. all stinger wiring,

this system destroyed batteries before i did the big 3,
i did the 4g from alt to battery and 0 gauge from batt to amp distro block,
i have a standard alternator for now but i dont thrash it hard so its keeping up, i have an optima battery and plan on getting another starting battery and moving the yellow top audio batt to the rear of the car,,  like i said earlier, its good to upgrade as you go, so now that i ned too, i will do the alt and another battery so i can get the most from the system, i wouldnt advise doing the big 3 on  a standard stereo, the results v the work and money dont make sense.....cheers....also, please clarify the big 3 for me, alt upgrade and larger wire, earth wiring upgrade, and battery upgrade, thats what ive been thinking it meant....thanks.

I have the BIG 3 done in my van and it made all the difference in the world.  The van had a 140amp factory alternator which does well for the most part but the factory charging wire was only 10awg.  I upgraded with 2awg wire at all points and even though it was only 140amp it kept up with everything for the most part.  I recently dropped in an Irragi 250amp alternator which keeps up with the demand of the system no matter what else is on.  But, if it wasn't for the BIG 3 upgrade the system wouldn't work well even with the bigger alternator.  Even a fairly modest stereo system requires more current than can be easily fed by the stock wires.  The idea behind the BIG 3 is to be able to feed the system all the current the charging system has available to give.  If you do the BIG 3 and still have problems then it's time to look at Caps and high output alternators.  Also remember to be sure your battery is good also.  Just because the car starts and runs fine doesn't mean the battery is 100% either, a dead cell or spent plates can make the battery draw hard on the charging system and cause problems as well.  Any good battery like an Optima, Exide Orbitals, or even a DEKA Intimidator battery works good for car audio.
