I have two 12" 2ohm DVC subs rated at 1000 watts, and one two ch. amp ( 1600 watts at 1ohm bridged, 800 watts at 2ohm bridged, and 600 watts at 4ohms) I have my subs wired in a 2ohm load. My question is. Since each sub is 1000 watts each and my amp is putting out 800 watts into both subs. how much more power do I need to max them out?

Well, first of all the MAX rating power thats posted all over almost every piece of car audio equipment sold today is under no circumstances assumed to be an accurate rating. Give us the brand and model of your equipment and we'll be able to get the real info from the manufacturers and tell you what you want to know.
Let's say your subs say 1000 watts MAX on them and they're really 300 watts RMS. Let's also just toss out that your amp really puts out 800 watts RMS into your subs. Add the RMS wattage of your subs together and you're already overpowering by 200 watts RMS assuming your amplifier can deliver the stated rating.
What I'm trying to say is the MAX rating you see posted all over everything is just for marketing. When you look at equipment and brand A is 400 watts for $400 and brand X is 1400 watts for $140 then alot of people choose X because hey watts are watts and X is alot more and alot cheaper. HOWEVER, 9 outta 10 times brand A will blow the livin crap out of brand X because its made better, from better components and is usually even a little underrated saying 400 but actually doing 500. Happens all the time, everyday, the marketing departments know what they're doing. Sorry to go off ranting like that but I see it all the time some kid spends $300 on his whole system and thinks he's really got something, not knowing that it won't last any time and doesn't do anything near what its rated and the salesman laughed all the way to the bank cause he just made 300% on what he paid for the stuff. The best thing to do is post the brands and models of your subs and amp and I'll look up what the real RMS ratings are then post back on here where you really stand and give some good constructive criticism and advice. I'd be more than happy to help out. Another thing is unless that's a High dollar high current competition amp there's no way its stable to 1 ohm bridged. Most are only stable 4 ohms bridged, and most stereo amps that are stable to 1 ohm stereo are only stable 2 ohms bridged. It's the nature of the beast on most all amplifiers, save for Class D and a few other high end amps.
