I have a 08 Dodge ram and I installed a phenoix gold QX900.1 amp and 2 kicker cvt 12's. Feel free to flame me lol but i still have the facotry head unit with a step down installed on it. The problem i'm having is when I have the volume past 25 or so the amp will act like its going into protection but the indicator light on the amp doesnt go red. below 25 it works fine and beats hard. the subs are SVC and wired directly to the 2 channels on the amp @ 4ohm. however the amp is 1ohm stable and i know there are 2 speaker jacks outside but they are wired mono inside the amp. Ok here is what I have tried so far. I switched the amp with another amp i know works. it did good for a day or so but then instead of cutting out it blows fuses. so i took BOTH amps and put them into another vehicle and they work fine. I traced all my wiring and even re-did the ground and still having the same problems. I bought a JVC head unit with amp pre-outs to make sure that wasnt the problem and with direct rca to radio and amp still had the same problems. Someone had mentioned that 08 rams need a voltage regulator for the radio but i havent found anyone who can confirm this. Anyone have any suggestions?

i had a similar problem, mine would go into protect mode when i turn it up. i tried different grounds n such n it turned out it was the remote wire. it wasnt getting enough voltage from the radio so i ran it to a relay and a toggle switch and its been working fine every since
